We are researching the special abilities/functions of insects to solve global warming and food problems. We aim to develop technologies that lead to food resource recycling and greenhouse gas reduction.

evolutionary biology

We study male-specific morphology and fighting and courtship behavior in Drosophila prolongata. In addition to ecological analysis, we aim to elucidate the evolution of adaptive behavior through genetic approaches.

animal physiology

Insects are the most speciose animal species on earth, adapting and thriving in all environments. We will solve questions related to development and physiology, such as how insect body size is determined.
